Dubai Masters Swimming Club (DMSC)
DMSC is a collection of adults of varying abilities, most of who have swum in the past. Members train for fitness or enjoyment and social interaction. Others are interested in competitions both at a local and international level. Events range from sprint meets to open water distance events.
The DMSC coach will be available to help you improve your technique and fitness and give you hints, tips and encouragement during the session. Just ask if you want specific advice.
Members can choose to swim any number of nights per week from one to five. This enables you to determine the level of involvement and commitment you have to your swimming and to DMSC.
For each session, the pool is divided into lanes according to each swimmer’s ability. There will be a level to suit you and this enables you to progress to a faster and harder lane or to take an easier lane to improve on your technique. All swimmers follow the same general training cycle/session set by the DMSC coach - differing only in session distance or the turn around times of each set.
On an average night the faster lanes will swim around 3-4k with the slower lanes covering around 1.5-2k. If this distance sounds a little intimidating, don't be put off as the idea is to train up to a level with which you feel comfortable and to push yourself as much as you feel able. In the beginning, you don't have to swim every part of the session.
To join the Dubai Masters Swim Club, just show up on the pool deck dressed to go, about 5-10 minutes before any of the swim sessions begin (please read training times, location and payment information before coming to the pool).
